Uma questão de fontes

Via Arts & Letters Daily, fiquei a par do 50º aniversário da... Helvetica. O MoMA comemora o acontecimento com uma exposição, de Abril 2007 até Março 2008.



Serifs são as pequenas hastes que ficam penduradas nas extremidades das letras, como no título e corpo de texto do meu blogue. Diz-se que as fontes com esta característica tipográfica facilitam a leitura, "pois as serifas tendem a guiar o olhar através do texto. O ser humano lê palavras ao invés de letras individuais, assim as letras serifadas parecem juntar-se devido aos seus prolongamentos, unindo as palavras. Por outro lado, as fontes sem-serifa costumam ser usadas em títulos e chamadas, pois valorizam cada palavra individualmente e tendem a ter maior peso e presença para os olhos, já que parecem mais limpas." - WIKIPEDIA

Só um mau texto é que nem com "serifas" se salva.

Entretanto, este mês também faz 30 anos (tal como eu em Maio próximo) que o GUARDIAN, por ocasião do Dia das Mentiras, fez muito boa gente acreditar que existiria uma "ilha-nação" chamada San Serriffe, colonizada por espanhóis e portugueses, cuja capital "actualmente" seria Bodoni.
